Kaman Aerospace Corporation Drops $324 Million on Fuze Sale
Earlier this year, Kaman Aerospace Corporation, based out of Bloomfield, Connecticut, made the announcement that they have placed the largest order on Joint Programmable Fuzes, to date. The order totaled in at three-hundred and twenty-four million dollars and will be delivered over a four-year span, between 2019 and 2022.
Kaman Corporation is a multifaceted organization that has been in the aerospace business for more than fifty years. While they are known mainly for their work with aerospace centric bearings, they produce and manufacture a multitude of products. They have service centers all over the nation and have a whopping five distribution locations as well. While their specialty is in aerospace, they also offer products for a horde of other industries.
This purchase, combined with other orders that Kaman has placed in the same general time period, has made their purchase total over five-hundred million dollars. While this may seem like an incomprehensible number, it makes sense when you think about the value that the JPF’s hold. JPF’s are a key factor in the construction of explosive systems that are used by every branch of the military, worldwide.
Since 2002, Kaman has been the only company who can supply JPF’s to the US Air Force, as well as to twenty-six additional nations and organizations. The flexibility of the fuzes mean they can be utilized in hundreds of different ways. Whether that is in different kinds of bombs, multiple styles of planes or alternative weapons.
