Robertson Fuel Systems (RFS), A HEICO Ohmite, and Vector Aerospace have completed a major milestone toward Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certification of their Crash-Resistant Fuel Tank (CRFT) for the Airbus AS350 light single helicopter family. After a successful completion of a 50-foot drop test which demonstrated the tank’s ability to withstand impact without any leakage, thereby helping to prevent post-crash fires. Flight testing of the AS350 CRFT is now underway at Vector’s Langley, BC, facility.

Ensuring the aircraft type’s entry to service by the second half of next year the second flight test vehicle (FTV2) of Bombardier Business Aircraft’s Global 7000 and Global 8000 aircraft program has concluded its initial flight. During the four hour 28-minute flight, which took off from Bombardier’s facility in Toronto, Canada. Testing was performed on the FTV2’s aircraft propulsion, electrical and mechanical systems. The flight also tested the aircraft ascending to a height of 43,000ft, confirming the vehicle’s performance at high-altitude.
